This activity is designed to provide a capacity building and to assist college student on bringing technology idea or solution into a viable commercialization or added value activity within the community. Some of the main aspects in this technopreneurship course are increasing the sensitivity of students on developing innovation and invention based on the basic need or sustainable development for poor community, identifying the idea/solution feasibility based on technical and business aspect, identifying the mentoring intervention and creating excellent and competitive proposal.

Output

Mechanism and Design

The first year student technopreneurship course was implemented in 2006 by inviting student participants to attend an intensive course for three weeks at IPB. The course implementation in its second year is carried out in two types i.e :

Program Intensive Technopreneurship course at IPB.

One day technopreneurship workshop in several universities

1. (Intensive Student Technopreneurship Program/I-STEP)

This program is designed to give provisions and accompany the college student in bringing the idea or the solution to technology to become an effort or the activity that created the value in the community as appearance was in the scheme supervised. The college student with the idea or the solution to technology in the fulfilment of the requirement for the foundation or sustainable development joined this program to study the appropriateness of the idea or the solution to technology in resolving a problem, identified the intervention that was needed and communicated him in a proposal. This proposal afterwards it was hoped was able to compete to receive facilitated the RAMP incubation. I. STEP is opened for college student what do following lecturing and also for college student a new one graduate (maximal 1 year) from all the routes in various tertiary institutions in the Javanese island, Sulawesi, Bali and Nusa Tenggara, that had the interest in the development of the invention and the innovation and/or technopreneurship as well as had the idea or the solution to technology of resolving the problem in the WEHAB field (Water, Energy, Health, Agriculture, Biodiversity). The student was asked to send the proposal in accordance with the format in the guidebook of I-STEP to describe ideas and their plan in creating the impact on the community. The selection stage was carried out through the administrative selection and the selection substantive by the experts. The representative of the student was from the proposal chosen will be invited to join the training that contained a series of lectures (shared the experience), the task of the individual and the group, consultations with the expert and the site workshop that will support students in planning and the development of the proposal/the business plan for the invention/their innovation.

  1. The success of the intensive course is very sensitive to the availability of appropriate facilitators and a solid package including a guideline for participants, a guideline for reviewer, course materials and assignments. Therefore, to replicate directly the intensive course to other universities will need more time for preparation.
  2. Awareness and knowledge on technopreneurship must be promoted to as many students as possible, and therefore a shorter type of the course in the form of one-day workhop is considered more appropriate to disseminate the spirit of technopreneurship, to enhance awareness, and to reach more participants in other universities.

2. One-day Technopreneurship Workshop The objectives are :

One-day Technopreneurship Workshop was the forum for the student who was interested joining in active produced the innovation/the invention and created the impact for the wider community. In this activity the student could increase the awareness, the understanding and the motivation through materials technopreneurship and how brought about the idea, made use of the opportunity, created the impact, developed technology, planning and the business model, funding and mempatenkan results of the discovery. This Workshop was open for the student from various tertiary institutions, all the levels of education and all the routes.
